Hi my name is Nilo Tabrizy. I'm a journalist and writer based in New York City.

Currently, I'm a reporter on the Visual Forensics team at the Washington Post where I use open source reporting methods in our investigations, with a focus on Iran coverage. I’m also the co-author of For The Sun After Long Nights, a book the 2022 women-led uprising sparked by the death of Mahsa Jîna Amini for Pantheon (US) and Atlantic Books (UK). It was longlisted for the 2025 National Book Award for Nonfiction.

Previously I was a video journalist at The New York Times, where I reported on Iran, race and policing, and abortion access. Before that, I was a producer and correspondent for VICE News covering drug policy and I wrote feature stories for the website.

I hold a Master's of Science from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and a B.A. in Political Science and French from the University of British Columbia.

I speak Persian and French fluently, and I’m sloooowly working on Spanish by listening to La Lupe and Frank Reyes.
