I analyzed more than 40 photos and videos and collected six witness and resident testimonies to put together a detailed reconstruction of the regime’s crackdown during the peak of unrest in Rasht on Jan. 8. Because of the government’s shutdown of internet and telephone service, few such detailed accounts have emerged from Iran until now, especially from outside the capital city of Tehran.
